10 Countries were represented in this year’s fashion art week in Palm Beach produced by Fusion Fashion & Art. From Russia to Romania; from Armenia to Italy and Japan with many more in between FFAW 2013 was a cultural fashion art palooza. The 5 day event included an open casting call at Tequila Cowboy complete with runway and impromptu couture fashion show. Over 100 models competed flooding the stage and runway. Held on 9/11 with a patriotic theme local firefighters and law enforcement were acknowledged for their service with honor in remembrance of the nation’s lost heroes.
FFAW kicked off with a Red Carpet Reception hosted at BB King’s Blues Club in City Place where Designers and models gave the press a preview of fashions to come. Over the next 2 days 12 fashion art shows were presented at all new The Light Factory Studio & Gallery. FFAW ended with an exclusive fashion shoot and trunk sale where designers sold direct to eager consumers at steep discounts. Also, Models and photographers teamed up for a studio style shoot of the FFAW runway fashions.
Local and internationally known models included the stunning Mega agency model Lauren Pegues. At 15 years of age this beauty is a statuesque 6 feet tall in bare feet. Additionally, the spotlight loved two of Georgia’s freshest and most promising faces Jessica Simpson and her sister Ashley Simpson. Once discovered at FFAW requests from all participating designers kept the two new models very busy. Lauren and Jessica were in high demand and although Jessica was the new kid on the runway she did a great job of keeping up with the pros.
Other international beauties included models from Brazil, Russia, Latin America, and Italy. For an exotic flair fire and artistic fan dances were performed by Dawn Rhys and her team from Imperial Belly Dance Theatre on the runway and stage. Accompanied by live drumming performances included the Red Carpet Reception and the intermission of shows.
All the action on and off the runway was caught by notable Fashion photographers James Eisele of Fashion FL, Joseph Reilly, Sean Simpson and Flavio Iryoda; professional photographers Dave Reist, Robert Swinson of R and J Photography and Donna Paul of DP Studios along with reporters Gilbert Henry of Latin Connection Magazine and Christopher Markis of Fashion Secrets USA – Italia Elegante.
In 2014 FFAW will produce 3 more fashion art weeks in Palm Beach. Current talks with local businesses, international contacts and some city organizers are pushing a cumulative snowball of interest and possibilities.
