Fusion Fashion & Art Week: Review of 1st Show Day – Palm Beach, Florida September 20, 2013

Fashion Art week in Palm Beach produced by Fusion Fashion & Art boasted 5 days of events and fashion shows.  Fashion art designers from around the world who now call Florida home showed the wonderful weaving together of American style fused influence from their native countries. The result was like none other. From fashion forward easy wear to extreme fashion couture the whole spectrum of fashion presented.

The shows were held at a renovated historic 1930’s light bulb warehouse with a gorgeous high wood beam ceiling and the original multi pane swing windows. The Light Factory was a former speakeasy and blues club to stars such as BB King adding an organic touch similar to the earliest days of New York’s fashion week.  The first show day  opened with Intricate Couture headpieces by Dannielle Kukar of Feather Heart Designs celebrating femininity at its most elegant. The irresistible pieces were dashingly diverse in style and application. Dannielle, a native of Cuba, has a background in graphic art and shows that she has all the talent and dedication to detail as the finest early French hat makers. Dannielle is often featured in the magazine Hat Life and other lady’s fine accessory publications.

Lucia Craciuin, owner and designer of Fashion Risks had two collections to show featuring her hand painted silks. Her first collection featured flowing chic dresses that seemed to float on the runway and a perfect fit for any warm weather climate to ensure beauty and comfort. The second collection was a lively combination of versatile casual wear mixed with fresh sassy short skirts and dresses. Lucia, originally from Romania has made her home in Florida and brought her wonderful sense of style with her.

Florida original Martine Alphonse of Alphonse Unlimited showed an amazing diversity of style in her collection ranging from casual easy wear to evening wear. While her casual wear was bright and full of character her evening wear was that of the keen party girl ready to dance all night and look fantastic doing it.

Extreme fashion artist Baron Siamanto Levon fourth generation fashion designer of Armenia performed an amazing feat of couture presentation. Arriving with only his materials and famous scissors Levon constructed his entire collection nearby the runway. Wrapping the models in materials and with his giant scissors the original works of art were created in a series of skillful cutting, twisting, tying, and wrapping. Like Lucia, Levon delighted the audience with two collections and shows.

The grand finale for the first day of shows was Liz Taylor of Liz Taylor Coll, a second generation fashion designer only in her second year of production. Liz shows a rapid evolution of style and talent that dances between the lines of unique fashion forward to elegant charm and the splendor of extreme couture.  Her daily wear pieces were playful with vibrant colors and alternating textures and her evening wear was a show stopper of distinctive mystique.

This wrapped up the first day of FFAW which makes for a tough act to follow but impossible to miss. In the works for 2014 are three more fashion weeks to be produced by Fusion Fashion & Art. National and international fashion, exhibit, and performing artist will all join together for the promotion of their businesses; unveil their collections and celebrate art in all its forms.
